A day in the blue city: its alleys, the Kasbah and the view from the Spanish Mosque.
The medina of Fes, the blue city, Roman Volubilis and two nights in the dunes, starting and ending in Fes. Want to change something? Every tour can be adapted: more days, other stops, other hotels.
Full day in Fes el Bali, the largest medieval medina in the world, with a licensed local guide: the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine university, the Chouara tanneries and the artisans' souks. Afternoon at leisure.
Morning drive through the green hills of the Rif to Chefchaouen. Afternoon to get lost in the blue alleys of the medina, visit the Kasbah and climb to the Spanish Mosque for the sunset over the blue city.
Morning walk in the blue medina. We drive south to Volubilis, the best preserved Roman city in Morocco, and the imperial city of Meknes with its monumental Bab Mansour gate. Arrival in Fes in the late afternoon.
We leave Fes through the Middle Atlas: Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou with its Barbary monkeys and the high plateaus of Midelt. Then the Ziz Valley and its palm groves lead us to Merzouga, where camels take us into the dunes for a night in a Berber camp.
A whole day in the desert by 4x4: around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, the Gnawa village of Khamlia and its music, nomad families, the black desert and the old kasbahs of Rissani. Optional sandboarding or quad. Evening at the camp around the fire.
Sunrise over the dunes and camel ride back to Merzouga. We drive north through the palm groves of the Ziz Valley and the plateaus of Midelt, then cross the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, home of the Barbary macaques, and Ifrane, the 'Switzerland of Morocco', before reaching Fes.
