Day-by-day itinerary

   Day 1Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

   Pick-up in Casablanca and stop at the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest in the world. Visit of Rabat, the capital, with the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas, then drive north to the blue city of Chefchaouen in the Rif mountains.

   Day 2Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

   Morning walk in the blue medina. We drive south to Volubilis, the best preserved Roman city in Morocco, and the imperial city of Meknes with its monumental Bab Mansour gate. Arrival in Fes in the late afternoon.

   Day 3Fes – Guided visit of the medina

   Full day in Fes el Bali, the largest medieval medina in the world, with a licensed local guide: the Bou Inania madrasa, the Al Quaraouiyine university, the Chouara tanneries and the artisans' souks. Afternoon at leisure.

   Day 4Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga

   We leave Fes through the Middle Atlas: Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou with its Barbary monkeys and the high plateaus of Midelt. Then the Ziz Valley and its palm groves lead us to Merzouga, where camels take us into the dunes for a night in a Berber camp.

   Day 5Merzouga – A full day in the Sahara

   A whole day in the desert by 4x4: around the dunes of Erg Chebbi, the Gnawa village of Khamlia and its music, nomad families, the black desert and the old kasbahs of Rissani. Optional sandboarding or quad. Evening at the camp around the fire.

   Day 6Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley

   Sunrise from the dunes and breakfast at the camp. We pass through Rissani and its market, the oasis of Tinejdad and walk in the Todra Gorges, before following the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Dades Valley.

   Day 7Dades – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

   Drive through the Valley of the Roses and Skoura to Ouarzazate. Guided visit of the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and famous film set, then cross the High Atlas over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech.

   Day 8Marrakech – Guided visit

   Guided tour of the red city: the Koutoubia, the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef madrasa and the souks of the medina. In the evening, the unforgettable atmosphere of Jemaa el Fna square. End of the tour.
